Band Rules and Procedures!

Band Rules!

1. All school rules concerning gum and food, proper behavior, appearance, and language, etc. will be followed while in the band room and while participating in any band event.

Refer to the Wellsburg Middle School Student Handbook for clarification of such rules and their consequences.

2. No Gum or Food in bandroom.

3. Be respectful to the all instruments (Don't play drums!).

Do Not play someone else's instrument, nor let anyone play yours. Do not play drums. Do not write on or purposely break drum heads, purposely break sticks, carelessly drop an instrument, and any such irresponsible act.

Violation of this rule will result in detention and paying for damages.

4. Do not spray, throw, nor run in the band room.

This is horseplay, which will result in detention for all persons involved.

5. Do not loiter outside school building or in stairwell.

Come or go directly to class without stopping, playing, tossing, or climbing.

First violation--warning of entire class, further violations of this rule will result in detention for individual violators.

Procedure for Beginning Rehearsals:

1. Use the doors from the stairwell, not kitchen door.

2. Enter band room, get instrument out and ready to play.

3. Sit down and warm up using music from practice.

4. Be attentive and wait for my instructions to start.

5. While waiting for everyone else to arrive, stay in your seat.

Procedure for During Rehearsal:

1. From the first beat of rehearsal to the last chord of the period, there will be no reason to speak unless you are given permission after raising your hand to ask or answer a question.

2. Ask questions between playing, not while playing.

3. Listen attentively to others' questions and the answers, so you will not ask the same question.

4. Any repair needs are to be dealt with before or after rehearsal, not during.
Procedure for Ending Rehearsals:

1. Put instruments in cases, and place them where they belong.

2. Neatly arranged music in your folder and return it to the cabinet unless you're taking it home.

3. Listen quietly during announcements.

4. When bell rings, return to original seats and wait to be dismissed by the teacher.

5. Don't leave personal items in band room.

6. At the end of the day, all students must enter back through school. Do not walk through parking lot.
